DB Performance & Support Services for Largest English Daily in NCR

Client Profile

The client is one of the leading newspaper and publishing houses in India with a readership base of over 40 million readers across India. The group’s Hindi daily, continues to be the second-largest daily in the country.


Since the client was managing a huge number of databases for their Hindi & English dailies, they were looking for support services for their entire RDBMS infrastructure deployed at their data centre at Noida, UP.


The main challenge was DB performance and scalability challenges the organisation had to deal with day in and out.

Solution provided

Since redoing the whole setup was not an option since the client was more interested in maintenance of the current setup; the job at hand was to start the support services project with a full audit of the RDBMS install base and the underlying host OS configuration states. Based on the findings from the audit the support personnels deployed on-site will implement or patch the issues identified on a phase by phase basis.

As for remote off-site support, it is being provided on-call based on incident call received from client NOC managed by a third party. It covers proactive monitoring, support & troubleshooting of the DBs. It is a 24×7 SLA of L2 and L3 engineers as and when required.


Now the client has the peace of mind as far as their databases infrastructure is concerned; while the initial phased patch deployment has been a success as it has shown results, the added benefit is there are skilled DBAs to remedy any issue that might arise.
